2nd Regiment of Foot West Indies Georgian Button
With the outbreak of war against Revolutionary France in 1793, the regiment served as marines, being present at the capture of Martinique and Guadaloupe in 1794 and participating in the naval victory of the Glorious First of June that year. A second battalion was raised for the first time in 1794, and both 1st and 2nd battalions served in the West Indies between 1795 and 1797. In dug up condition.
In worn condition, but an interesting surviving piece from that era. To the rear there is an unclear maker's mark, which reads 'Firmin'.
