New Zealand WW1 Cap Badge: REINFORCEMENTS - Scarce
53 mms H.
New Zealand Reinforcement cap badges were unofficial but widely accepted insignia worn by individual reinforcement drafts of the First New Zealand Expeditionary Force (1NZEF) during World War I. Because they were not standard government issue, soldiers had to privately purchase them to wear during training camps (like Trentham or Featherston) and on troopships heading overseas. Upon arrival in Europe or Egypt, soldiers were required to swap them out for standard New Zealand Army or universal expeditionary force badges.
A fine cap badge.
