They featured a battalion number together with the letters "OCB" (such as "6 / OCB" for the 6th Battalion at Oxford). A "6" in white metal indicates a highly sought-after and specific historical variation rather than a defect. During World War I, standard shoulder titles for the 6th Officer Cadet Battalion were all-brass. However, certain companies or cadets within the 6th OCB (Oxford) intentionally wore white metal numerals to denote a specific status, such as a cadet who was a prize-winner, a platoon marker, or a cadet company sergeant.
